Lyrics

John Heavern - Aftermath

Implosion of reality

hits frozen eyes of disbelief.

A buoyant face has been displaced,

his voyage drifting out to sea.

A changing world has passed me by,

I wander through the streets.

Estranged and lonely deep inside,

a ghost with only memories.

Time has shifted and my ship is blown astray,

Passion drifting in an ocean tainted gray.

Nothing left to convey, too late to alter my path:

guess it?s time to just face the fact.

Choices hold me at bay, I float in wakes of their draft:

livin? life in the aftermath.

Present day leaves me back,

my body ages, dreams collapse.

On display as just a laugh,

I?ve faded into aftermath.

A stormy cloud surrounding me

with every step I take.

The warning signs are crowding me,

eventually, I separate.

I?m trapped inside menagerie,

a distant state of mind.

My shadow has no gravity,

reality is redefined.

Convention is exhorting me

in ways I can?t relate.

The present day?s ignoring me:

archaic visions have no weight.

My link is shaky to progressive chains,

some think I?m crazy, just a bit insane.

A mind has drifted off to live the past,

but still existing in the aftermath.
